1. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – What is hypnosis like?

Hypnosis is often described as the junction between being asleep and being awake. Clients often describe it as being ‘very relaxed’ or in a ‘daydream’ state. Indeed, the experience varies from person to person, but the following things are always true:

  • You’ll feel relaxed and at ease, and probably a little sleepy
  • You’ll be aware of what’s going on
  • You will be in control, so you can wake up whenever you want

2. Hypnotherapy Glasgow - I don’t think I can be hypnotized

Yes you can be hypnotized! Virtually everyone can be hypnotized – it just depends to what level. We can work with both hypnosis and Neuro Linguistic Programming (which can get similar results to hypnotism without having to take you into a ‘trance’) as being deeply hypnotized is usually not required for most theraputic work. Nevertheless, even if you are not naturally inclined towards hypnotic trances, this ability can often come with a little practice.

3. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – Will I remember what happened?

Most people remember what happened, although sometimes clients can forget the exact details. It is highly unlikely that you would suffer amnesia, even if instructed to under trance, as hypnotism cannot force you into actions that you would naturally find uncomfortable.

4. Hypnotherapy Glasgow How long do the sessions last?

Each session consists of a consultation (a chat) to gather information about what we’ll be working on, filling in a consent form, and the hypnotherapy and NLP itself. Typically a session will last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on what kind of work is needed and how easily you go into a trance. A trance or hypnotic state usually takes between 5 to 20 minutes to go into, depending on the person and the depth of the trance. The hypnosis element of the session usually lasts around half an hour.

5. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – How will I know it worked?

It’s important to remember that you may not be aware of changes that have been make on a subconscious level (this takes a little to get your head around!) however, you may notice that things you want to do seem simpler and easier, whilst problem behaviours seem more difficult to recreate. Changes may vary from instantaneous through to taking a few weeks or months to fully take effect. Usually the giveaway sign of a successful session is that it’s just been ‘easier’ to move towards your goal afterwards.

6. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – How many sessions will I need?

I’d recommend you have a maximum of 3 sessions over a period of time to work on any one issue; more sessions may be useful where you’d like to work on more than one thing.

7. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – Can I use hypnotherapy to help me with stress?

Yes! Probably the best use for Hypnotherapy is for helping to calm down, and having a relaxed mind, and it’s absolutely ideal to help you manage your stress levels, and feel better.

8. Hypnotherapy Glasgow –  How will hypnotherapy help me lose weight?

Many of us have food habits we know aren’t the best, but we do them anyway (even when we know we want to be healthier and slimmer!) Hypnotherapy can help you to break old habits and permanently enjoy a new way of thinking. Hypnotherapy combined with common sense, high quality advice and the experience of a personal trainer will give you the emotional skills and support you need to successfully lose weight.

9. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – Can Hypnotherapy Cure phobias?

Yes. NLP is considered to be best for curing phobias (using the fast phobia model) and is what gave NLP worldwide recognition in the 1980’s. Most phobias can be managed down to a sensible level you can overcome with 1 or 2 sessions.

10. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – How long will the changes last?

As long as you want them to! I’d encourage you to act on the positive changes you see to reinforce them, even if it means you need to move out of your comfort zone a little.

11. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – Will I do things I don’t want to when I’m hypnotized?

No. You’ll remain in control the whole time and studies have shown that people under hypnosis are less inclined to do something they don’t want to, not more.

12. Hypnotherapy Glasgow – How long should I leave between sessions?

If you’re taking more than 1 session, usually a 1 to 2 week gap seems to be ideal in-between sessions.
